Christmas Eve, 2020

Merry Christmas to all.

Merry Christmas to everyone who’s doing the right thing and not going home. Merry Christmas to you who want your loved ones home, and they’re not coming.

Merry Christmas to everyone who doesn’t believe lockdowns are the right thing to do but puts up with them for others. Merry Christmas to everyone who does believe in lockdowns and follows the guidance to help those who won’t thank you for it.

Merry Christmas to all the people on the front lines. Merry Christmas to the medical workers, the carers, EMS, and first responders. Merry Christmas to the people who don’t get applause: the garbage collectors, electricians, internet technicians, the millions of people who sometimes hear parents tell their kids ‘Don’t grow up and do that’ without ever understanding that unless someone did that, our lives would be worse.

Merry Christmas to the servicemembers across the world, Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors, Marines, and Guardians. Merry Christmas to the Coast Guard, the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Commissioned Officer Corps members.

Merry Christmas to everyone who gets told not to wear a mask, who gets an earful about how masks are a scam, the vaccines have microchips, and the whole disease is a hoax. Merry Christmas to all of you who just smile, thank the other, and move on.

Merry Christmas to those telling themselves ‘it just isn’t worth getting upset about **** in this difficult year’ and other such statements that are easier said than done.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy Hanukkah, God Bless, and Good Luck as you will. I don’t turn down whatever well wishes I receive.
