What do you call someone who’s in denial about something when the thing they’re denying isn’t necessarily correct? The one in denial isn’t necessarily wrong.

Suppose I’m in denial that the Earth is flat. What do you call that?

Alternatively, suppose I deny the possibility that Mercury formed outside the orbit of Venus and experienced a collision which shifted it to its current orbit. What do you call that?

Does a single word encapsulate BOTH that the denialist is correct and that the denialist might be correct? To me, denial has an implicit meaning of ‘wrong.’

Disaffirmer? Rejecter?

Neither of those feels quite right, thought rejecter comes closer.
